The Skinny on Womens Wear Daily Scoop
Fairchild Publications is launching WWD Scoop (registration required), billed as an insider's guide for the fashion jet set. Or, quoting from the media kit:
SCOOP is an international service piece for trendsetters and tastemakers, with an international insider perspective on people, places, events, trends, and new discoveries in nightlife, food, books, movies, culture, design, and much more.
The quarterly publication is going to leverage their worldwide newsgathering resources and contacts. The initial 110 pages include 40 pages of advertising (ad specs here, requires Adobe Acrobat) in a tabloid-sized, glossy format.
Fairchild is a unit of Advance Publications, home of many great daily newspapers, ShopVogue.com, and uberblogger Jeff Jarvis. In the past, it appeared that Advance had focused on the sexy, consumer-facing Conde Nast side of the business, leaving the more B2B-oriented Fairchild Publications to stay the course. With this change in direction, Fairchild - through WWD - has an opportunity to outflank local opportunists by using their worldwide connections to secure more exclusives, the lifeblood of local haute couture.
