Yahoo Launches SMS Service

Yahoo! has launched a new addition to their local search service. When you search for a restaurant or retailer on Yahoo! local search, it will send the phone number and address of the destination to your mobile phone. (Of course, you need to first configure your Yahoo! profile properly.)

It saves you from having to print out the page or jot the information down after you do the search.

ConnectMe has developed a simple add-on which adds this kind of SMS functionality to local web sites. In addition to local search, it also includes support for directions and events.
